G'Day from the Pie Thrower!
Yes, my muse is still missing but I'm not going to force it back. It could be because my 'talents' are wrapped up in writing fan movies of Doctor Who. I've got four in progress. Why? Because Steve Moffat is a fucking idiot.
Here are some updates:
Work: My shifts went from three to four nights a week to two, two to one, one to once a fortnight. So I decided to get my Gaming Licence (this is so I can expand my duties, get more shifts and possibly more money. It means I can work on the slot machines). So, had to jump through hoops for that, get a National Police Check (which wasn't cheap) and have my fingerprints done (I'm now in the system). Get a credit check, then apply to get my gaming licence (which wasn't cheap either). I mean, I understand why but I would think that after paying for the Police Check, Credit Check (as well as getting a photo done, and if you haven't done your RSG, that needs to be done as well) I would have thought a Gaming Licence wouldn't hit my pocket that hard. It has since arrived (good timing too, as the night I brought it, they were training someone new in the bar). I had to wait two weeks until they decided to train me.
Life: Is generally going OK. This week and the next are going to be a bit hard for me as next week it's the anniversary of my sister's passing.
I went to see Monty Python Live (mostly) in cinemas. I can see why they did it, why Sir John and Eric buried whatever hatchet they were fighting with, as Sir John didn't look too well, he didn't sound well, and he forgot some lines (he had to be prompted by whoever else was on stage with him). I hope it comes out on DVD. As they switched/shifted stage props, they showed footage from Flying Circus, mostly involving Graham. They did the Parrot Sketch and instead of saying "he's gone on to meet his maker", Sir John said "he's gone on to meet Dr. Chapman". But they've called it now, at the end, after the final bow, on screen they had 'Graham Chapman 1941 - 1989' then 'Monty Python 1969 - 2014'. And I was this close to posting a tribute on Facebook when I got the news that Robin Williams passed away.
I'm very excited at the moment, as tomorrow, Deep Breath premiers. I only got into Doctor Who a couple of years ago, I missed out on 'Rose' 'The Christmas Invasion' and 'The Eleventh Hour' (I'm unsure if The TV Movie aired here or not). So, this is the first time I get to sit down and watch a Doctor's first episode the first time it airs. and yes, I will be getting up at 4:30 in the morning to watch the global telecast. and I will later be seeing it again in cinemas.
My Doctor Who collection is building nicely, I've currently got about 30 serials, the TV Movie, K-9 and Company, and The First Series. I reckon it's pretty good, considering last year I only had the TV Movie and The First Series.
The Love of a Nerd Season 1 is finished. I am waiting somewhat patiently for the next broadcast season so I can get back on air. I am working on what I call Season 1.5. Results of which, can be viewed at syn.org.au/theloveofanerd.
I'll try and get on here more often. The deviations and journals are piling up.
